ADHD and behavior issues are red flags that a child may have a spinal misalignment. When there are misalignments, our body systems have a hard time working properly.

Examples of the body systems are the sensory system, the immune system, and the digestive system. Every system in our body is operated by our brain with the help of our nerves. These nerves run through- you guessed it- our spine! So, when there is a misalignment, these systems can malfunction and issues. Things like ear infections, difficultly paying attention, sinus infections, headaches, constipation, ADHD, inability to sit still, etc. can all occur.

Nerve supply is to the body, as water is to a plant… necessary and life giving to the parts it reaches. Therefore, if your child has been struggling with illness, digestive, or behavioral issues, you may want to find out if this is their body reacting to a spinal misalignment. Parents are often surprised to find out that all of the issues their child has been dealing with are potentially connected.

So where do you turn?

Chiropractic is the removal of spinal misalignments or subluxations that cause the dysfunction in body systems. When there is a malfunction in the body, we know that there is most likely a misalignment that is causing disruption in the nerve supply.

How do misalignments happen?

Well, the short answer- life. As a child develops, they experience small traumas. From the birth process to stumbling as they learn to walk and falling as they learn to ride a bike, misalignments happen. Your child’s spine is constantly developing. Though children may not complain of pain… ADHD, illness, and behavior struggles are all signs of misalignment.

How do you know if your child has a misalignment?

An evaluation by a trained and skilled pediatric chiropractor can address this question and help to start your child on their journey to be their best self!  As your child gets more and more chiropractic adjustments, you may notice that the meltdowns diminish, and they start to handle transitions easier. Ultimately, our goal is to help calm their system and allow everything to function more optimally.
