The Webster Technique: Supporting Your Pregnancy Journey Naturally

As prenatal chiropractors serving Middleton and greater Madison, Wisconsin, one of the most common questions we get from expecting mamas is about the Webster Technique. Let’s dive into what it is and how it can support your pregnancy journey.

Understanding the Webster Technique

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment method designed especially for pregnant women. However, it can be and should be incorporated into care for all weight bearing individuals. The Webster’s technique focuses on creating balance in the pelvis and sacral areas as well as reducing tension in the surrounding muscles and ligaments. Think of it like creating the optimal environment for your baby to grow and move throughout pregnancy.

Why Consider Webster’s? During pregnancy, your body goes through amazing changes to accommodate your growing baby. Sometimes these changes can create:

  •         Pelvic and Sacral misalignment
  •         Round ligament tension (that sharp pain in the front!)
  •         Lower back discomfort
  •         Hip pain
  •         Sciatic nerve irritation

The Webster Technique helps address these common pregnancy challenges while supporting optimal baby positioning. Many know Webster’s to be the “baby turning” technique. However we aren’t actually working directly on baby at all.

When it comes to Webster’s for pregnant moms we are simply working to:

  •         Support pelvic balance
  •         Reduce pregnancy discomfort
  •         Enhance nervous system function
  •         Prepare for birth
  •         Create optimal space for baby

What to Expect At our Middleton office, Webster Technique sessions are gentle, specific and usually takes just a few minutes. We’ll check your pelvic alignment, round ligament tension, and overall comfort – all while keeping you in comfortable positions. Many mamas are surprised by how gentle and quick their visits are. We’ll also provide home comfort tips and position recommendations to support you between visits.

When to Start

While the Webster Technique can be beneficial at any stage of pregnancy, many mamas find starting care in the first trimester provides the best support throughout their journey.
